I am particularly experienced in treating people whose issues interfere with relationships, academic/work performance and/or creativity; those going through major life transitions, such as loss, divorce, illness or developmental changes; those who are experiencing depressive or anxiety symptoms, and those with a history of trauma.

As a solution-focused therapist, my approach is to provide support, ask illuminating questions and give practical feedback to address whatever challenges you face.  With an intuitive and highly personalized approach, I focus on the needs and goals you have.  I will help you build on your strengths and attain whatever goals or personal growth you are committed to accomplishing. This is not always easy, as people are generally "stuck" in some way.  So, I will help you overcome whatever stumbling blocks naturally emerge in this challenging process.  With my help and your commitment to the therapy process, you can make enduring and long-lasting changes to the quality of your life--changes that will enable you to travel more smoothly on the path through your life.

As a Harvard-educated and trained psychologist, with over 30 years of clinical experience, I am able to make a very positive difference in the lives of the people I treat.  I am a highly interactive and practical psychologist.  If you are having emotional difficulties, problems in your relationships or with your academic studies or profession,  I may be the ideal therapist for you.  My warmth, keen understanding and compassionate heart makes me an effective and easy to work with therapist.  

When I work with you, I will ask questions and make practical suggestions that will enable you to make the positive life changes you sought by seeking therapy for yourself.  I have a direct, active style, and will work collaboratively with you in figuring out what will work best for you.  Primarily, I use what you bring up in our sessions as material for our work together.  I will also use your memory of events that happened in your past, what is going on in your current life, your dreams and unconscious slips, and, even our interactions, as a means of helping you achieve your therapeutic goals.  I am also able to make you aware of your thinking patterns and/or teach you some mindfulness practices.
